Zymaxid 0.5% Eye Drops is an antibiotic used to treat bacterial conjunctivitis, an eye infection caused by bacteria. It works by killing the infection-causing bacteria. This medicine is ineffective against eye infections caused by viruses. Zymaxid 0.5% Eye Drops may cause some side effects such as itching, discomfort, stinging, and burning sensation in the eyes. These side effects are mild and generally subside by themselves. Consult your doctor if they persist or worsen. It may also cause temporary blurring of vision after instilling eye drops. Avoid driving vehicles or operating machines until your vision is clear. Avoid using this medicine if you are allergic to it. Zymaxid 0.5% Eye Drops should be used as prescribed by your doctor. Tilt your head back slightly and pull down your lower eyelid to create a small pocket. Hold the dropper close to the eye and squeeze the dropper so that a drop falls in the pocket. Close your eyes for two to three minutes and repeat the same for the next dose. Finish the entire course of treatment to prevent the recurrence of infection. Zymaxid 0.5% Eye Drops is not recommended for use in children below one year of age. Inform your doctor if you are using any other medicines in your eyes or have any other eye problems. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or are breastfeeding.
